[1-7 Oct 2007] I never imagined there could be a place HOTTER than Manila... but Singapore beats Manila hands down when it comes to the heat.
I loved... Singapore Slings (highly addicting), the Night Safari (I'm not one for zoos, but seeing nocturnal animals in a cageless environment is something!), Singapore's Chinatown (the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is amazing) and Kampong Glam. I was in time to catch the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival at Kampong Glam, and Little India being decorated for Deepavali!
I brought home... wind chimes from the Buddha Tooth Relic temple, beef, chicken, and pork jerky from Bee Cheng Hang, silk embroidered pillowcases from Chinatown, a cashmere pashmina from Kampong Glam, and shoesssss (of course, this is the land of Charles & Keith and URS!)
I stayed at... Royal Plaza Hotel on Scotts (Orchard station -- it's a good base for seeing Singapore!) and Tito Fred's unit at Redwood West. Beware of riding bus 143 though... I got lost for 2 hours!
